About the Artist:
Kathryn Walker is a self-taught artist who’s passion about her craft is evident in everything she does. Her creativity, talent and stylistic freedom make each piece an original.
Her Peyote stitch beaded necklaces are her signature. Peyote beading is rarely done by others because it is so time consuming and such an exact art.
“I find a spiritual connection to color and stones and want every piece to connect to the person who wears it.”
Her stained glass pieces incorporate beads, sterling silver and/or stones. “The different mediums used add layers of visual complexity and interest to each piece. “You can find something new each time you look at it.”
Kathryn has two grown daughters and lives in La Crescent, MN on a hobby farm surrounded by what she loves; lots of land, a garden, her animals, her studio. and her husband, Bud.
“Redklaw” is a collaboration of Kathryn’s art and her sister, Nancy Rieder’s marketing. After nearly 20 years in a marketing career, Nancy left the Ad Agency business to raise her family. With her daughter now in High School and her husband’s support, it seemed the right time to reconnect with her sister and get back into marketing. She says, “Kathryn and I have brought each other full circle. She is the most genuine and original person I’ve ever known, and that is reflected in everything she creates. Just representing her is an honor and marketing her work is truly a joy!”
“Nancy has been instrumental in engaging me to take this passion I’ve had all my life to the next level. She’s my friend, adviser, confidant, organizer, supporter and my connection to making each piece meaningful to the person ordering it.
